It's that time of year. School's almost out, the pool's about to open and I have vacation fever. Bad. Like all I want to do is pack up the family roadster and head to the beach. Or the mountains. Either will do.
Speaking of the family roadster, it is feeling SO small these days. I mean it's an SUV, but after all our recent trips to St. Mary's with two kids, it is PACKED, so any road trip is either going to involve a new car (a Suburban would be ideal, but I'm pretty sure a new car is NOT in our plans. Certainly not my cheap budget-conscience husband's) or one of those ridiculous things you put on the roof of your car. Anyone have experience with these? Can I rent one? How much are they to purchase? Deets, if any are welcome.
Anyway, we have a few trips planned, one around my brother-in-law's wedding in Florida and a few trips to my parents in Sarasota and St. Mary's - so much to explore in their "new" town.
Our big summer trip involves meeting up with my husbands' best friends from college (children included - that's eight kids under FOUR) at a house on Lake Michigan. AND HE IS PLANNING IT. Which means I'm still not convinced it is actually going to happen. And this is not meant to be a shot at him- I mean he's relatively good at planning weekends away. Like booking us a room, but the details are up to me - when we leave, what to pack, where to stop on the way, etc. But this trip is being planned by ALL BOYS. And not just any boys, but the boys he went to college with. Let's just say that I love them, all of them and their wives too - we've traveled together and visited each other across the country, but seriously, if this happens, I will be so impressed and slightly floored. And completely overwhelmed - because I've got to figure out how to get the four of us from NC to MI. I'm thinking road trip, but we'll see. I'm also thinking Bourbon and lots of it.
